Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
VAD Nepal caters rehabilitation services to people with Disability's home and at community level. Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program is suitable for the developing country like Nepal. CBR is agro based, home based and community based program. A coordinator of the program as well as rehabilitation workers is recruited. They are imparted intensive and extensive training for the execution of the program. This program ensures that the persons with Disability and visual impairment are rehabilitated in the environs of their own community. CBR services are catered to persons with disability identified in the project catchments area in collaboration and cooperation with other NGOs. A number of wheel chairs, corrective surgery, artificial limbs, walker, supported device and walking aid have been distributed to needy people under this program. |

Stepwise activities under CBR program
Survey: home visit survey to identify the Pdws.
Counseling, Orientation & Mobility: Develop self-confidence and skills for independent mobility. Giving appropriate counseling to the PWDs and their Family/Careers concerning any issues related to the disability.
Daily Living Skills: Raining the family member/career with handling Transferring, positioning, basic, exercises and how to help with Activities of Daily Living to the people with disability. Develop independent skills for daily living viz. washing, cleaning, personal hygiene,
Providing the appropriate walking aid/gait education if required by the PPeople with disabilities and in collaboration with the Physiotherapist.
Providing a basic assessment and simple therapy to those People with disabilities and, if any Intensive or specialist treatment is required, referring them to the Rehabilitation Center.
Vocational Training: Vocational training is provided to the active adult People with disabilities on the vocation existing in their own community.
